About the event

Bring your students on a journey to the past where they can make connections to their present! Experience daily life in Wisconsin from the 17th – 20th centuries with knowledgeable historical interpreters and hands-on, inquiry-based learning.

About the Day

Heritage Hill State Historical Park is a living history museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin, showcasing the region’s cultural heritage from the 1600s to the early 1900s through historic buildings, costumed interpreters, and interactive demonstrations The park spans over 50 acres and features 24–27 original or reconstructed buildings representing different eras and aspects of Northeast Wisconsin’s history. Families can:

  • Experience 17th‑century fur trade life at La Baye

  • Explore Fort Howard (1830s military life)

  • Visit ethnic farms from 1905

  • See blacksmithing, printing, cheese making, and other period demonstrations This is a self-guided field trip, allowing families to explore Heritage Hill at their own pace. Historic interpreters will be stationed throughout the park and may invite students to participate in hands-on experiences such as gardening, portaging a canoe, military drills, and other historical activities. Activities vary by day.

Please Keep in Mind

Heritage Hill State Historical Park is in the middle of the woods. There are ramps and paths for strollers but not all areas are accessible with a stroller. Please note during inclement weather navigation may be difficult with a stroller. There is a Childrens Interactive Learning Center Playground for kids to explore if a break is needed.
