Our Name

Pella: When Rome conquered Israel in 70 AD, after a brutal siege of Jerusalem, the city fell, and the Second Temple was destroyed. Anticipating the devastation, a group of Jewish Christians fled the city, seeking refuge in the city of Pella, east of the Jordan River. This move was seen as a fulfillment of Jesus' prophecy, urging his followers to flee to the mountains when they saw Jerusalem surrounded by armies. In Pella, these early Christians found safety and preservation of their community, where they became strong in numbers and faith.

Hill: This word is a nod to Matthew 5:14.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
